my xbox bricked. it has become a victim of the dreaded 3 Red Lights(tm). so i’m officially out of the Halo 3 beta, and when i get Forza 2 next week it will be another week (at least) before i can play it. i am unbelievably pissed right now. but i’m surprisingly calm about it; because there isn’t much i can do. it’s under warranty so it’s a free ship/repair but it’s 3-4 business days until i get the shipping box, however long it is to ship, 1-2 days for repair, then 3-4 business days after that to receive it back. maximum of 10 days. lame. because it’s likely to be longer. oh well, i guess i have mario party 8 to look forward to.

and now for the obligatory bike jabber. today i washed my bike. i completely degreased the drivetrain, actually washed the frame with hot soapy water, and re-lubed the chain. i did it properly this time, taking care to wipe the excess. i realized that proper lubing happens inside the individual chain rollers and that it’s actually bad to have a wet lubed drivetrain. i also got a new helmet today. performance was having a sale that brought the Bell Sweep R down to the price i missed at the REI sale. it’s white/ti; i almost decided to get a green one at the last second but it only matches one jersey, doesn’t match my bike, and white reflects the sun better when it gets hot. it’ll be nice for summer; i hardly notice it’s on my head and it’s well ventilated. which is awesome because my hair is thick. right now when it’s 55 degrees on my morning commute my head is damp by the time i get to work: not good. so hopefully that will make me more comfortable.
