it hit 71 today. it was rad. so when we got home today we rode our bikes to go feed sebastian. it was a gorgeous day for riding. i’m really happy to be living near the burke-gilman again. we got to that trail crossing at 25th and Blakely and had to stop for a light. when the light turned green we went across the crosswalk and there was a girl on a bike ahead of us. the girl gets half-way across and a car starts turning right from Blakely onto 25th and stops a couple feet from the girl on the bike. by this point i’m most of the way across and i can see the guy in the car. he’s honking like crazy and flailing in his car. i can hear him shrieking something about “stupid bitch” and other such nonsense. during this screaming episode he’s torn off this phone thing from his ear and thrown it at his dashboard. a rather long line of people stacked up at the trail and were crossing during this tirade and when they all passed the guy burned out and sped off. when that happened this jogger chick and i exchanged a glance and laughed.
i hope that guy didn’t kill anyone between that point and when he got home. because wow. i mean wow. that guy threw a screaming, cursing fit in his car. he’s got issues, and shouldn’t be driving like that. i’m really glad it was that girl instead of me in front of the guy. that might have gone a little different. i take issue with people freaking out at people in crosswalks. i might have said something to the effect of “oh i’m sorry. am i in your way? in the crosswalk. with a green light. would you like me to move?” that probably wouldn’t have made things better. not at all.
