Congress Gets Longer Work Week

imagine that, now they have to work the same amount as the rest of us. you can make your own opinions, and please do share them in the comments; but i really only want to discuss one thing here and that is the following quote:

“Keeping us up here eats away at families,” said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), who typically flies home on Thursdays and returns to Washington on Tuesdays. “Marriages suffer. The Democrats could care less about families — that’s what this says.”

boo fucking hoo. my normal work week is 50 hours and more often than i’d like, but not too terribly often, i’m working closer to 60. i dunno about you guys but i get on average five or six hours a day to spend with my honey. one hour in the morning where we get ready for work. then depending on traffic we’ll have 4-5 hours before we go to sleep in the evening. a lot of that time is spent cooking, doing chores, etc. so actually maybe there are only a couple hours where we actually can just spend time together. now, i understand that this will mean that a lot of congresspeoples will have to spend longer amounts of time away from their homes. well, that’s what you get when your office is in DC. you signed up to be a public servant, it’s time to start acting like one.

just one more comment on this point, i promise. but i thought we lived in a rather advanced age. you know, we have computers and all that nonsense. i want to know why some of these people can’t just video conference in. i mean, hell, you wouldn’t even have to wear pants to go to work! i really want to fly out to georgia just to see this guy’s tears about how he’s going to have to go to work more now, i really do.
