just for kicks i decided to listen to Skinny Puppy. i used to listen to a lot of industrial/noise/digital hardcore and i remember that even skinny puppy was a bit much. i think i was just getting some of their more esoteric tracks. i never listened to an album, just tracks on industrial comps, which i’m really sad that Hot Topic doesn’t carry anymore. on that tangent, you used to be able to get really quality industrial compilation cds from the likes of Cleopatra Records and Metropolis Records for $5-7. dunno what it is, but lately i’ve just been wanting to listen to the harder stuff i listened to in high school. i’ve also been wanting to listen to trance.
which is strange.
this morning i’ve been listening to, in addition to Skinny Puppy, Delerium. and not just any Delerium but tracks featuring Leigh Nash. those of you unfamiliar with this name will probably recognize the band she sings for. yeah, she sings for Sixpence None the Richer, who broke up at the end of last year [sadrobot]. but really, you don’t get much more trance with tiny girl vocals than Delrium and Leigh Nash. unless the girl is Kirsty Hawkshaw. but that’s a whole ‘nother ball game.
