this past weekend we got a christmas tree. not just any tree, the perfect tree. tessa’s dad has a tree farm on the side and said we should come get one. so in trade for a bottle of wine, we got a tree. sounded like a pretty good deal to me.
it was kind of overwhelming when we got there. we come through a patch of really big trees from the road, then we’re presented with ACRES of christmas trees. and since it was The Source, we pretty much had our pick. so we wandered through the trees inspecting each one; this one is almost perfect, but that one over there is more perfect. we ended up taking home a perfectly proportioned six foot tall christmas tree. it is now decorated and sitting in the corner of our apartment all happy and piney.

we also went cross-country skiiing on sunday. or should i say, classic nordic skiing. something like 6-8 kilometers, mostly uphill. i haven’t been in around 10 years, so there was a bit of a learning curve, but i eventually settled into it. it seems like something i wouldn’t mind doing more often. it’s just like running, only with two skinny sticks on your feet so you can go running in the snow. yesterday when we woke up, kat and i were sore. very, very sore. apparently there are more muscles than you normally use in your legs that only come into play when nordic skiing.
so it was a good weekend. i have a couple more presents to get for people, so i may bust my $200 mark, but that’s ok. people will be stoked with what i got them. this has got to be the least stressful christmas i’ve had since i started college. i’m not in any rush to go anywhere, i’m not broke, i don’t have to worry about travelling places i’m not real keen on going. everyone is coming here. i’m not working very much this month. and that right there, i think, is the key.

it’s officially christmasey
