this whole oil panic has got to stop, it’s not helping anyone. let’s get something straight here: we aren’t running out of gas.
are people so stupid as to think a hurricane swept through our oil rig patch and just sucked all the oil out of the ground? honestly… all that’s happened is the storm damaged the delivery system. damaged pipes, damaged access (roads, ports), damaged rigs. apparently all of these can be repaired fairly quickly, and pipelines are even running now, just at a lowered capacity. so let’s see now, with deliveries to gas stations running a bit behind, what does it make more sense to do:
1. panic, rush the gas station, fill up reserve containers, then tell all your friends to do the same? and then call those same friends when the station runs out?
or
2. continue with normal, or *gasp*, maybe conservative usage for a little while.
just the facts m’am, just the facts. granted it’s not helping that nobody is telling the general populace this. or it’s slow getting out. so the fact is, supply is just interrupted/slowed. it’s not going away. hell, analysts are even saying a dramatic price decrease is on the way in october as driving season calms down. granted it’s probably going to continue rising over the next couple weeks, but suck it up bitches, park that SUV for a couple days. take the fucking bus.
