i refuse to talk about current events today.

so tahuya is a happening place. we spent the weekend out there at a friend’s house, mostly on the boat. just lounging in the sun. we shot off fireworks and such. here’s me playing with sparklers.

it was great. away from the bustle of the city out in nature. we got fed well. and apparently i’m pretty good in a kayak. i kind of want one.

but not before i get a new car. the battery died in my car last week and it did not respond to a jump. the solenoid kicked up but it couldn’t get enough juice to turn over the engine. i think it might just be that a 20+ year old diesel mercedes isn’t up to the task. the battery is roughly a year old so it’s not completely dead. but this is just one more incentive to junk it and get a new one. i think the dome light was left on, and this is a horrible design flaw in the car. i say this because it’s happened more than once. the dome light that turns on and off with the car doors opening is also controlled by a switch. this switch also controls the headlights and the brightness of internal lights. the headlights are controlled by pushing and pulling, dimming and dome on/off is controlled by twisting. see why this is dumb? my guess is that it got twisted when someone was getting out of the car after dark and just didn’t notice that the dome stayed on. because when you’re getting out of the car, you expect the dome to come off, then time off in a little while. and it’s just old. i was never very nice to it, but to be fair, it was a piece of crap when we bought it. so for the next few months i’m going to be as frugal as possible so i can save up a down payment and be rid of the tempo as soon as possible.
