the fucking fire alarm went off in the middle of my set tonight, on live fucking radio. i was pissed, needless to say. i was tearin it up too. but thats nothing new ;) i find myself getting better and better at it. i’m practicing more too, its great. i’ve finally mastered matching phrases so things don’t sound awkward and cut up even though they’re beat matched. its cool, because now i can change records knowing exactly where a peak is, without even knowing exactly where it is just because i know that most dnb records are timed in 32 beat measures, that is 4 measures of 4 repeated phrases. pretty sweet huh. one step closer to sounding like i’m not an amature. and after weeks and weeks of practicing at home on my TTX1s and going down to the station and playing on their 1200s, i’ve decided that like my TTX1s way better. i’m seeing these new digital tables as the new industry standard. maybe not the TTX1, maybe Vestax’s new table, but the future is digital. its just more precise i feel. it may be a crutch, but i like knowing that this record mixes perfectly with that record if the first record is set at normal speed, and the second record is set a +.3%. digital precision is a beautiful thing.
